Another misleading blurb to get you to buy a cliffhanger that the author stretches out into four parts to make money. Not only that, but the writing isn't that good. There's way to much verbiage, unnecessary descriptions and conversation among friends that has absolutely no bearing on the story. Way to much rambling. I probably skipped half the pages to get to the meat of the book and didn't miss a thing! I WILL NOT buy buying parts two, three and four.Tags : Curves Envy Part 1-Alphas Love Curves (Alpha Male Billionaire Romance Series) - Kindle edition by Scarlett Avery. Curves Envy Part 1Alphas Love Curves Alpha Male Billionaire Romance Series edition by Scarlett Avery Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I love the 1st installment of this series and I need more!!! But as much as I loved this book and every other book that I had previewed by Scarlett Avery I hated that it was a cliffhanger. I am also not a big fan of authors selling their book in parts. This book could easily could easily hold all the other pages from the second and third installment. Also, the fact that this second installment of this book and the rest of the other installments is $4.99. I was disappointed. Don't get me wrong , I understand the author need to make a profit but $4.99 for less than 100 pages, really????. That's just pure robbery!!!$2.99 would have been better since it's a short read and you can read each installment in less 1 hr. I'm just saying that not everyone has $5 including tax to spend on a book that has less than 100 pages.. **roll eyes**
This book was terrible. First of all, it is not 544 pages like the description states, hopefully will fix that because that's false advertising. I would say it's 100 pages, a novella. Secondly, being a BBW woman doesn't define you, but in this book it defined every moment of Candy's life. A cafe, couldn't go to that when I was heavier. Sad thoughts, because I'm heavy I have them. Drinking, I shouldn't because I want to lose weight but will. It was SO cliche and as a fan of Scarlett Avery's previous stories I was very disappointed. The writing was clunky, the fact that Candy is a BBW defined every single thing in this book. In fact, I don't think the story went more than three paragraphs between discussing the fact that she is a BBW.
Buyer beware, this is not a great story and there are better ones out there. I highly recommend Cherise Sinclair's Master of the Mountain if you are interested in reading a BBW story that is well done.
This new author, Scarlett Avery, is Great! So I download and go...
At first I thought Candy was dreaming. I wasn't sure what was going on. The story seemed to start out a bit slow for me. But, based on the recommendation, I kept going. Wow was I glad I did! Once the story picked up I loved the hot interaction, sexy language and descriptions. The secondary characters were fun and the back story tried to pull at your Heart strings with a promise made to Candys' grandmother. The story took an unexpected turn and ended with a cliffhanger I expected (as this is a serial series). I had to make myself take a breather to write this review instead of immediately starting the 2nd part! As usual, my BFF called it and I love this. The author has a sassy, sexy quality that I like. She gives her characters personalities we can identify with and I love how her alpha talks dirty! I will be reading more from you Ms. Avery! The four stars are because I felt there were some time-consuming redundancies in the conversations and it seemed to take quite a while for us to get to the "meat" of the story. Overall though, great job!
I could not get into this in the least and ended up quitting early.
There is a crazy influx of BBW novels out there today and while I like it when they acknowledge that many women who have some flesh on them have self esteem issues it really does come down to the character's personality. Candy was not someone I could like; everything about her screamed desperate. Desperate, psychologically damaged girls or women really need THAT THING to help you get past their characterization or plot background or they just don't work. Fighting demons is great but you have to want a character to win. I couldn't even care about Candy's game.
Since this is an episodic, or many part novella, I needed this story to take off faster and to have a staying pace. It was disconnected and at times awkward in the emotional atmosphere. Other times it was overwhelming with a lot of information. No one likes too much exposition. Along with Candy being a disappointing heroine, I couldn't get on board with the big hugfest portion of the story that needed to be completely edited for content. Her friends felt shallow to me and their background with her was rather flat.
I will not be purchasing anything more in this series. Perhaps this author will have something more appealing to me in the future. I need storycrafting and storytelling that is a great deal more promising that this.
I'm almost halfway through this book and I just can't. There's so much name dropping and sad cliches that I find myself rolling my eyes after each sentence. It's like when a commercial free show comes on tv and since their aren't any commercials, they have to rely on product placement to do their advertising. Almost every paragraph talked about a product or a place (either a store or a restaurant), and I could get used to that, but the dialogue? The dialogue didn't ring true at all. What guy do you know that when being thrown out of the house naked says (And I'm paraphrasing here), "You can't throw me out. I'm not decent." And do people still say "debonair?"
I'm sorry to say that the love scenes weren't any better. At one point, Maximiliano says, “Wow. You look sensational. Would it be too forward of me to reveal your suggestive bra and your sexy panties are making me hard?” Of course, this is after he's already untied her wrap dress and pressed her up against a wall. Isn't it a little late to ask if you're being too forward?
I ended up skimming through the rest of the book because I actually did want to finish it and I have to say that the last chapter was the only part of the book that gripped me and made me want to read more. Unfortunately, one chapter isn't enough to make up for the rest of the book.
Another misleading blurb to get you to buy a cliffhanger that the author stretches out into four parts to make money. Not only that, but the writing isn't that good. There's way to much verbiage, unnecessary descriptions and conversation among friends that has absolutely no bearing on the story. Way to much rambling.
