Wow, this book was absolutely fantastic! It's the story of Miranda Moore, a woman who twelve years earlier escaped a twisted serial killer and is his only known survivor. She and Quinn Peterson, the FBI agent who helped Miranda through her trauma, fell in love but they haven't seen each other in ten long years, ever since he seemingly betrayed her trust. After another girl goes missing though, she and Quinn are reunited in an effort to finally stop The Butcher, a monster who kidnaps, rapes, and tortures young ladies before releasing them into the wild only to hunt them down...

I utterly loved this story which drew me in on an emotional level, but please be aware that it does contain some graphic and disturbing content, including sexual abuse and incest, not to mention the other horrors mentioned above. I adored Miranda who despite her fear, faced the many challenges thrown her way with a courage I could only admire. Then there was Quinn whose love for her seemed to leap off the pages. The romance and mystery were wonderfully balanced and neither detracted from the other. The Butcher was a chilling individual who scared the living daylights out of me he was so creepy. Ultimately, there were moments I cringed and others where my heart was full to bursting. In the end, this book held my undivided attention with its wonderful writing, beautiful romance, and incredibly thrilling suspense.

Though 'The Hunt' does standalone I'd highly recommend reading 'The Prey' beforehand, since that is where you'll first meet Quinn's character. Overall both stories are dark, intense, and definitely worth reading. I'd undoubtedly recommend to anyone not squeamish and looking for an engaging and exhilarating romantic suspense.

Nothing to dislike about The Hunt. This book and characters was good and interesting. Brennan kept you wondering all the way to the end. Very well written.

An absolutely gripping suspense /thriller! It will leave you squeamish yet turning every single page. The characters and situations are believable - the good guys have flaws and the bad guy has reasons. It did get just a bit cliche' in a couple of places but never did it cease to hold on!
Once again, Allison Brennan delivers an outstanding read. I particularly love how many of the characters are familiar as they are found in her other books. I hope she continues to use her regular characters. I can't wait until Reckless - the new Lucy Kincaid book - is released on March 14th and Stolen - another Lucy Kincaid book - comes out on June 4th. Be sure to check them out along with the rest of Allison Brennan's books.
I read this author's second trilogy about a year ago and was so disturbed by it that I swore I'd never ready anything else by her. Out of desperation, I bought the Prison Break trilogy last month and enjoyed it much more, so decided to give this one a try.

This installment wasn't nearly as good as "The Prey," and I found myself not getting nearly as drawn into this one. The author is a good writer and a good storyteller, but it seems that she goes a bit too far and makes her books too dark and depressing for me to truly love them.
When I began this book, I was worried it wouldn't be as suspenseful as it was supposed to be. I had read "Speak No Evil" which was published two books after "The Hunt" and since Nick Thomas was a main character in that book, I already knew what happens in "The Hunt." Well, even though I knew what happened and to whom and how it ended, it didn't stop this book from being really suspenseful. I credit that to the great writing of Allison Brennan. This book is exciting with a great plot. It's well-written and the characters are complex and well-developed. I think of the three Allison Brennan books I've read so far, this one is my favorite. Of course, I have a million to go and that makes me very happy.
Wow again, the first was good this one is even better. Allison featuring characters from the first book The Prey, I just love that when characters from other books feature in a book of their own. It's rather like a growing family you come to care for them in some way. Allison is turning out to be very gifted author of something rather scary, and down right yucky in places of romance. And something I forgot to mention in my previous review for The Prey is that the romance between the characters is wholesome without being slushy... I don't much like slushy stuff no doubt why I like reading romantic suspense.
