This story was better than I expected. I picked it up because the intro to it sounded interesting. I am very happy with the story and enjoyed it very much. It is very interesting how the author used the time line travel concept, one that I have read only a few times before in this way. It is very believable and kept the story moving along. It also had a good deal of Scottish history which added a lot to the story.

Spoiler, sorta. The only thing that would have made this story even better would have been for them to return to the 21st Century. Now that would have been a real unique twist.

The Elusive Highlander is a fun time-travel romance, which starts in 2013 Manhattan and travels back to the 14th century Scotland. This novel was very enjoyable and an easy read. Although many readers of Scottish history might be bored with explanations of historical events, these lessons will be helpful to those new to Scotland. I would suggest this novel to anyone interested in Scottish time-travel romance, and I look forward to reading another by Ju Ephraime.
A wonderful and enticing blend of history and romance. The characters make you fall deeper and deeper in love with them. I love the use of imagery and detailed description which painted a mental picture so perfectly. Definitely a must read for those who love romance and a sexy robust Scot. -)
"The Elusive Highlander" is the second Ju Ephraime book I've read, and boy did she deliver! I love her work, but I love this book in particular. What a refreshing and creative combination of surprises! Ancient rituals, magic, Druid customs, pre-destined couples, modern day Manhattan, and steamy love scenes are the perfect combination to fascinate me and enthrall me throughout the entire book. This book is absolutely dreamy!
What an exceptional storyline. The Elusive Highlander is magical and captivating. The main character Alasdair, is very well described and you hope the best for him…with Coira's help…to secure their future together. I felt as though I were back in time in Scotland, visiting the beautiful Inveraray Castle. I'm not one to give out spoilers, but this unique well-woven tale held my interest and I give author Ju Ephraime high marks!
This story that spans time and space was a really fascinating read. Overall, the story itself was beautiful, captivating, and easy to follow. And sexy to boot!

I think, though, that there were a lot of parts where the author used a lot more words than she needed to - telling instead of showing. I enjoy a little more mystery and guesswork - hinting at what is happening rather than suggesting it outright. But it was still compelling story that was enjoyable to read!
This was a great historical romance, romp, fun read, but, it was also respectful to historical facts and settings.

What a great concept to transport someone back to 14th century Scotland. NO more spoilers from me.
There was great chemistry between the two main protagonists. It was a lovely romantic tale but I also enjoyed the depictions of Scotland in that earlier historical period. I could smell the heather, and feel the dark atmosphere of Scotland's rugged countryside.

Ju Ephraime's books are always entertaining and this one didn't disappoint.
This is a good paranormal romance, with a HOT Highlander hero. Alasdair and Coira are an interesting couple, although I did find it a little hard to believe she would have adjusted to such a different world and lifestyle so quickly -- Most modern women would have a very difficult time with a change like that, especially since women had very little independence or freedom in the time she ended up.

I do think there was a bit too much history of the Scottish fight for independence, with all the details of the different battles -- it seemed like all that detail detracted from the romance and the development of their relationship. I would have also liked more information on what special powers Alasdair and Coira had, and an epilogue dated many years into their marriage.
